WHEREAS it is desirable that the matter of the detention of persons detained under the Emergency Powers (Public Safety and Order) Regulations, 1955 to (No. 3) 1956, should be placed beyond doubt.
1. This Law may be cited as the Detention of Persons under Emergency Powers (Removal of Doubts) Law, 1956.
2. For the removal of doubts it is hereby declared that every person who has been detained under Regulation 6 of the Emergency Powers (Public Safety and Order) Regulations, 1955 to (No. 3) 1956, has been lawfully detained under the provisions of the said Regulations, and any person detained at the commencement of this Law is lawfully detained under the Emergency Powers (Public Safety and Order) Regulations, 1955 to (No. 3) 1956:
Provided that this section shall not affect the determination of any legal proceedings instituted before the commencement of this Law.
